Quick Hits For the Weekend

April Fools! (tomorrow that is) I have pulled a few good April Fools jokes over the years. Remember that email from Gary Allan???? :-D

Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday morning at 2 AM. Spring Forward!!!

Ole Ole Ole Ole…DC UNITED!!!!!!!!!! MLS season starts tomorrow! Here’s to DC United reclaiming the Cup! I don’t think they are the best team in MLS, but I think come playoff time, they will be ready for a run! Jamie Moreno will challenge for the golden boot, and Freddy Adu is poised for a breakout season.

I think Petty Enterprises will return to victory lane in 2006. Bobby Labonte and Kyle Petty have both had great runs so far this year. The 43 may win this weekend, although I am taking Jeff Gordon. That is if Kenseth doesn’t turn him again on the last lap.

Before the NASCAR season started, these were my picks to be in the Chase...Stewart, J Gordon, J Johnson, Newman, Edwards, Martin, Earnhardt, McMurray, Jarrett, Biffle.

The Duke lacrosse story…what a mess.

Have a blessed weekend!!

Hilarious (to me) SPAM

I just got this SPAM in my work email (email filtering is not so good here...). Hope you find it as funny as I did...

Dancing Bummer

It’s a real bummer when say for instance your wife and yourself are taking ballroom dance lessons, and have had about 12 or so lessons with one cool lady instructor over 3 months. Then one night you show up, and your instructor is nowhere to be seen. Another lady instructor asks who you are, and says she will be instructing you that night. No mention of your regular instructor. You finally ask about where your regular instructor is, and you are told that she no longer works there :-( Talk about draining the ballroom dancing life out of you. She had taken another job managing some new restaurant/tea bar, which is good for her. But a bummer for the couple.

The Tip Off

So, I don't know why I am starting this. I was actually "reading the paper" earlier today, and there are a couple sports columnists in the Observer who just kind of give opinions on different topics on sports. So I think that is what this will be for me. But I may hit on stuff other than sports too. So here goes...

Lets start with the George Mason University Patriots! Who knew about these guys 2 weeks ago? I am glad to say I did. I spent my freshman year there, and worked their basketball camp for a couple years when I was in high school back when Paul Westhead was the coach. I will be sporting my GMU Basketball golf shirt on Saturday! Do I think they will win this weekend? Nope. But I didn't think they would beat MSU, UNC, or UConn either! That is why the tourney is great!

American Idol...I really hate when they have the modern music themed nights, like last night. They always stink, and last night was no different.

Ever had a beer can chicken? You need to try it!

My awesome wife and I spent the weekend in Blowing Rock! It was great to spend some CJT!?!?!? It was so cool watching the snow on Saturday, considering we really got none this year. I sure am glad I finally bought that snow shovel for this winter.

My wife and I tallied up a count, and we currently have about 13 friends who are pregnant right now!

I hope Mick Foley comes through with a great match at Wrestlemania this weekend.

This is a great place to start every morning!

Do you think Ward Burton will ever race in Cup again?

You know when you see something, and your first thought is "Daggone! That is not good." Well, that's what I thought to myself when I first saw the Paul Dana crash on Sunday morning. I have to agree with Robin Miller that Paul just was not experienced enough for IRL racing. It is a shame, and very sad. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Seth Greenburg, the VT basketball coach is one funny guy.

Well, that is enough for now. Back to work for me.

Peace.
